Engineering capabilities

Our expert engineers, state-of-the-art machinery and built in systems of checks and balances ensure every aspect of your job is handled to perfection – from concept to delivery.

By offering clients a complete manufacture-to-assembly process, we bring down costs and turnaround times whilst still increasing quality standards. Assembled parts may also require functional testing. Whether this be torque, load testing or mechanical testing, our engineers will work with our customers and help design the most appropriate inspection/test.

Our Assembly department specialises in electro/mechanical assemblies, spur & helical gearboxes, and worm & wheel gearboxes.

Utilising our own highly specialised design facility, we support products from conceptual ideas to finished manufacture.

Our extensive engineering expertise and knowledge is used to assist with product development within gearbox applications, helping to specify torque, ratio, material choice and to offer the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for every project. We also have the capability to assess comparative products, validate designs and test gearbox mechanisms.

Throughout the design process, we ask for customers’ stage approval to ensure effective solutions are delivered efficiently. Following concept design, and costings approval, we manufacture and test production prototypes, enabling us to incorporate any design modifications effectively and efficiently.

Electrical Discharge Machining enables us to produce components to almost any shape without additional tooling. This is especially useful for prototyping.

From 4mm to 400mm in any machinable material, we specialise in gear-cutting and precision-engineering of components used in numerous industries, including defence, aerospace and medical applications.

We also assemble geared components, including electro-mechanical parts. Our extensive investment in the best equipment and people means we offer clients a complete service that meets the highest benchmarks in precision, technology and skill.

Splined Gear Shafts
  • We manufacture splined shafts such as transmission shafts and drive shafts to customers specification. Current capacity on length is 650mm and 65mm in diameter.
Spur Gears
  • We manufacture Spur Gears cut to customers’ own specifications, all available with detailed dimensional reports produced from our various CMM machines.
Worm & Worm Wheels
  • We manufacture worms and worm wheels to customers’ specifications, offering a high degree of customisation.

When accuracy is everything and the end-product demands something more than exceptional precision, grinding makes the difference. Our grinding capability includes four cylindrical and surface grinding machines including two CNC cylindrical grinders for absolute precision. CNC fed by CAD/CAM and overseen by our specialist machinists makes use of every last thousandth of a millimetre. Ideal for applications from aerospace components to automotive gearboxes and medical scanners.

Our hard hobbing facility combines cutting-edge technology with decades of specialist expertise. Hard hobbing allows us to machine hardened gears with exceptional accuracy and surface finish, reducing the need for secondary grinding operations and improving overall production efficiency.

Our state-of-the-art CNC hobbing machines are equipped to handle a wide range of gear sizes and materials. This advanced process delivers superior gear performance, enhanced durability, and tighter dimensional control – critical for high-stress, high-reliability applications.

By integrating hard hobbing into our manufacturing process, we achieve:

  • Exceptional precision and surface quality
  • Reduced cycle times and production costs
  • Improved gear strength and wear resistance
  • Minimised material waste and energy use

Our expert engineers provide precision milling on the latest CNC machining including a five-axis universal machining centre – the Grob G150 with robotrex 96 robot, capable of highly complex geometry and ideal for demanding applications such as aerospace components, turbine wheels, automotive gearboxes and medical scanners.

We provide expert turning for precision engineered components with state-of-the-art CNC lathes. The essential backbone of any precision machining facility, we combine eight CNC lathes and highly skilled and committed engineers to get the very best out of every project.

With our 6 axis simultaneous machines using 3 turrets and 2 spindles, we can mill-turn in one operation where others take two or even three, ensuring competitive cycle times, faster throughput and dimensional consistency.
