    We manufacture and supply precision components and assemblies for major commercial aviation programmes.

    Our work includes specialist gear systems such as planetary gearboxes used for moisture extraction between aircraft fuselage skins, as well as critical components for aircraft seating systems, including pilot seats and private jet interiors. Typical gear applications include spur, helical, rack and pinion, and worm and wheel systems.

    We design, machine and assemble hydraulic components including actuators, spool valves and complete hydraulic sub-systems.

    Aerospace actuators are commonly used to control aircraft flight. These may be electrical or hydraulic systems driving lead screws or ball screws. Muffett can deliver the complete gearbox assembly, or source and integrate the lead screw and supply the fully assembled system.

    We also produce drive-train gearboxes for propeller aircraft, including the internal gearing, machined housings and full gearbox assemblies. Where customers provide the engine, we manufacture and supply the complete drive train between the piston engine and the propeller.

    Our aerospace manufacturing capability also supports tooling used in aircraft production, including gearbox components for high-precision drilling equipment used during wing installation and structural machining.

  • Medical engineering is a major part of our business, supported by decades of experience manufacturing precision components and assemblies for leading healthcare companies.

    We produce component parts, sub-assemblies and fully integrated electro-mechanical systems, including in-house wiring looms, assembly and final product testing.

    Our components are used across the medical sector, including body scanners, oncology treatment systems, artificial limbs and bionic hands.

    For medical imaging systems, we manufacture precision mechanical systems used for patient positioning, including fully manoeuvrable scanner couches capable of multi-axis movement and rotation. These systems enable accurate positioning during treatment as radiation beams are directed through tungsten collimator leaves.

    We also design and manufacture individual components such as timing gears and splined shafts, or deliver complete pump systems including housing, gearing, assembly and final testing.


  • Oil & Gas

    Our manufacturing capability also supports tanker cleaning systems, producing the gearboxes and mechanical assemblies used in automated tank-washing equipment. These systems drive specialised nozzles that distribute cleaning fluids throughout storage tanks, ensuring efficient and reliable decontamination.

  • Beyond pumps, we supply precision components for conveyor systems, vending machines and automated food dispensing systems, as well as parts used in automated warehousing equipment.

    Our engineering also supports hygiene systems within food environments, including mechanisms used in mechanical hand-sanitiser dispensers for industrial food facilities. More than 60% of our production is exported, with customers across Europe, North America and Asia.

  • Defence

    We manufacture mission-critical mechanical systems and precision components for defence programmes worldwide.

    Our work spans helicopter rotor blade mechanisms, bomb disposal robots, pan-and-tilt gearboxes, drive-train components for military vehicles, tracked robot systems, tank wiper motors and sighting systems. We also supply worm and wheel gearboxes, focal length pulleys and precision drive systems used in targeting and surveillance equipment.

    Our portfolio includes work for a world-leading ejector seat manufacturer, as well as mechanical pulling systems such as pump drums, winch drums and actuator mechanisms.

    We have extensive expertise in anti-backlash gear systems, widely used in military camera and targeting platforms. These systems are deployed in gun sights, drone camera stabilisation systems, surveillance optics and field targeting equipment, where precision and reliability are essential.

    We also support military communications, radar and drone technologies. Drone programmes have included camera gearbox mechanisms and propulsion drive systems, as well as jet engine components such as Inconel superalloy turbine blades.



  • Transportation

    We manufacture high-volume precision spline shafts for global transportation and heavy equipment manufacturers.

    These components are used primarily within hydraulic pump systems, including piston and valve pumps.

    Our production capability supports large-scale manufacturing with consistent tolerances, ensuring reliable performance in demanding heavy-duty equipment.
